Hello, this is Ian Davis from BDS Dental, and I wanted to talk to you about sugar in our drinks.

We all have concerns about sugar with respect to our teeth and our general health, but often we don't realise the amount of sugar in some of the very common drinks that we consume.

So let's start with the most well known: a can of Coca-Cola. In a standard 330 millilitre can there are 35 grams of sugar, and to put that into perspective, that is almost nine sugar cubes. Most fizzy sugary drinks, or sodas, will have that amount.

And there are other drinks with even more sugar. Saving the best, or maybe the worst, for last: one of Starbucks' most popular drinks, the Caramel Frappuccino, contains 54 grams of sugar. That is equal to fourteen sugar cubes.

It's surprising how much sugar there is in these standard drinks that many people have without realising their potential damage.

As we say at BDS Dental, let's all be dentally smart. Thank you.
